MERYDOM recently welcomed a port machinery maintenance customer from Bangladesh for an on-site review of a heavy-duty slewing bearing project for large mobile harbor cranes.
The customer is a major port machinery maintenance and technical service provider in Bangladesh, supporting port operators with equipment repair, component replacement, and maintenance services. The project involved critical slewing components for large mobile harbor cranes, requiring reliable load capacity, dimensional accuracy, operating stability, and long service life.
At the beginning of the project, the customer shipped two large original slewing bearings from Bangladesh to the MERYDOM factory. As some of the original technical documentation was no longer complete, our engineering team needed to inspect and measure the existing bearings before developing the replacement solution.
After receiving the samples, MERYDOM examined the overall structure, mounting dimensions, bolt-hole positions, gear parameters, raceway configuration, and other critical interfaces. The engineering team reviewed the measured data against the condition of the original components and the operating requirements of the equipment.
Based on the confirmed measurements and technical analysis, MERYDOM prepared new manufacturing drawings and developed a suitable production plan. Five new heavy-duty slewing bearings were then manufactured for installation on the customer’s large mobile harbor cranes.
These cranes operate under demanding port conditions and are required to handle heavy loads over extended working periods. The quality of the slewing bearing is therefore directly related to the safety, stability, and reliability of the entire machine.
During the factory visit, the customer reviewed the machining status, key production processes, and overall project schedule. Both parties also discussed the measured dimensions, technical requirements, inspection items, and delivery arrangements.
The visit gave the customer a direct view of MERYDOM’s complete project process, from sample measurement and reverse engineering to manufacturing and quality inspection. After reviewing the products on site, the customer expressed satisfaction with the manufacturing quality and current production status.
The project demonstrates MERYDOM’s capability to develop replacement slewing bearings based on original samples when drawings or technical documents are incomplete. It also provides a solid foundation for further cooperation in port machinery and heavy equipment applications.
