Seven control stages, in production order

The stages below follow the actual production sequence — from forged ring verification to export packing. Each stage explains what is controlled, how it is inspected, and which records support final release.

01Raw Materials

Raw Material Quality Control

Quality control starts before machining. MERYDOM reviews suppliers, verifies forged rings, checks material condition, and builds the traceability basis before production starts.

Raw material suppliers are reviewed through a structured qualification process covering supplier legitimacy, production capacity, production equipment, quality procedures, and stable supply capability. This reduces the risk of unstable material quality before the project enters machining.

Material selection is managed according to the drawing, load requirement, application condition, and customer specification. MERYDOM can manufacture with common slewing bearing materials such as 50Mn, 42CrMo, 42CrMo4, and project-specific alternatives when required.

Incoming inspection focus

Each batch of ring forgings can be checked through hardness testing, visual review, document verification, and ultrasonic flaw detection when required. The inspection focus is to avoid cracks, white spots, material mismatch, and hidden defects before machining.

Material Heat treatment Typical hardness range
42CrMo / 42CrMo4 Quenching and tempering HB 230–280
50Mn Quenching and tempering HB 207–262

For dimensionally sensitive rings, stress relief can be arranged before subsequent machining to reduce residual stress, improve dimensional stability, and lower the risk of deformation or cracking during later processes.

Key control points

  • Supplier qualification, production capacity review, and quality procedure review.
  • Material grade confirmation according to drawing, load, and application requirements.
  • Hardness testing, ultrasonic flaw detection, and visual incoming inspection when required.
  • Stress relief support for rings requiring improved dimensional stability.
02Process Control

Production Process & Machining Control

Machining quality control focuses on dimensional accuracy, process discipline, and the stability of interfaces that affect assembly quality and final performance.

MERYDOM organizes production with CNC turning, drilling, gear processing, raceway hardening, gear hardening, assembly, and inspection resources. The production workflow is managed by process cards, drawing review, operator checks, and quality inspection at key stages.

Production takes place in a workshop of approximately 10,000 square meters, with a team covering technical engineering, CNC operation, assembly, and quality inspection. This structure supports drawing-based custom manufacturing and repeated batch production.

Process inspection and tools

Processing step Typical inspection tools
Rough turning / finish turning Vernier caliper, micrometer
Drilling and threaded holes Vernier caliper, thread plug gauge
Raceway / groove machining Vernier caliper, ball probe gauge
Raceway and gear hardening Hardness tester, magnetic particle inspection when required
Assembly inspection Dial indicator, micrometer, vernier caliper

Key control points

  • Control critical dimensions, bolt-hole patterns, mounting surfaces, and raceway-related features.
  • Use process inspection and measuring tools to verify tolerance stability.
  • Review gear machining, drilling, and assembly interfaces before final release.

03Heat Treatment

Material, Raceway & Gear Heat Treatment Control

Heat treatment has a direct influence on wear resistance, durability, and load performance. Raceway and gear hardening are therefore managed as critical quality-control points.

Ring forgings can be quenched and tempered according to project requirements. Compared with lower-level heat treatment routes, quenching and tempering can improve strength, toughness, and dimensional reliability for heavy-load applications.

Raceway induction hardening reference

Steel ball diameter Raceway hardened layer depth Raceway hardness
≤30 mm ≥3.0 mm HRC 55–62
>30–40 mm ≥3.5 mm HRC 55–62
>40–50 mm ≥4.0 mm HRC 55–62
>50 mm ≥5.0 mm HRC 55–62

Gear induction hardening reference

Gear module Tooth surface depth Tooth root depth Hardness
≤6 mm ≥1.2 mm ≥0.6 mm HRC 50–60
>6–12 mm ≥2.2 mm ≥1.2 mm HRC 50–60
>12–18 mm ≥3.2 mm ≥1.5 mm HRC 50–60
>18–25 mm ≥4.0 mm ≥2.0 mm HRC 50–60

Key control points

  • Control raceway and gear hardening according to product structure and application requirements.
  • Verify hardness and hardened layer depth where the project specification requires it.
  • Keep heat-treatment evidence available for customer review and quality documentation.
04Assembly Precision

Assembly Precision & Final Fit Control

Assembly control brings together upstream material, machining, heat treatment, and inspection results, converting them into a finished slewing bearing ready for final verification.

Assembly quality management focuses on rolling element loading, separator arrangement, sealing condition, lubrication, clearance verification, rotation condition, and final surface review. For custom and OEM bearings, the assembly method is matched to bearing type, size, clearance requirement, and working condition.

Typical final inspection items include axial clearance, radial clearance, axial runout, radial runout, gear radial runout, smooth rotation, lubrication condition, sealing status, and finished appearance.

Inspection item Quality purpose
Axial / radial clearance Confirm bearing fit and movement condition
Axial / radial runout Control rotation accuracy and mounting stability
Gear radial runout Support gear meshing quality and transmission stability
Rotation test Confirm smooth operation before shipment

Key control points

  • Control rolling element assembly, sealing, lubrication, and final bearing movement.
  • Inspect clearance, runout, rotation condition, and gear-related accuracy where applicable.
  • Reduce assembly-related risk through standardized inspection and release procedures.
05Packing & Delivery

Packaging Quality & Delivery Protection

For heavy industrial products, packaging quality is part of product protection, delivery reliability, and customer experience.

MERYDOM uses packaging control to protect slewing bearings during storage, inland transport, export handling, and overseas shipment. Packing selection is matched to product size, weight, surface condition, corrosion protection requirement, and shipping method.

Protection measures may include rust prevention, machined-surface protection, internal support, lifting considerations, export crating, frame fixation, and external shipment labeling. Delivery support can be arranged around EXW, FOB, CIF, or project-specific logistics requirements.

Key control points

  • Protect machined surfaces and finished bearings from transport-related damage.
  • Use export-oriented packing logic suited to heavy slewing bearings.
  • Support safer lifting, storage, handling, and overseas delivery preparation.

06Traceability

Traceability, Records & Documentation

Traceability connects the product to the process. It helps the customer understand what was produced, when it was produced, and what evidence supports the final release.

MERYDOM connects material, production, inspection, packaging, and shipment information through a traceability logic that supports product identification and quality review. Depending on the project, records can include material certificate references, work-order information, heat-treatment data, dimensional inspection records, product labels, and shipment-linked documents.

For OEM and custom projects, MERYDOM can prepare quality documents such as MTC, dimensional inspection reports, heat-treatment information, packing details, and other agreed documentation samples for customer review.

Key control points

  • Connect product identity to material, production, inspection, and shipment records.
  • Improve visibility for customer review, archive management, and after-sales reference.
  • Support document-based communication for engineers and purchasing managers.
07Certification

Quality Management System & Certification Support

A quality management system provides the framework behind daily factory operations, helping keep procedures, responsibilities, and records under control.

MERYDOM presents quality management through documented procedures, role discipline, internal coordination, inspection records, and quality-system certification support. This helps turn daily quality work into a stable factory routine rather than isolated actions.

Company profile materials include quality management system certification, business registration documents, and product-related conformity documentation where applicable. These records help overseas customers confirm supplier identity, factory management discipline, and export cooperation readiness.

Key control points

  • Support documented procedures, review logic, and quality responsibility control.
  • Strengthen customer trust through certification and company documentation.
  • Provide a stronger organizational basis for continuous quality improvement.
